  Dawn Hanson
  President

Dawn Hanson is an accomplished business executive who has dedicated her entire career to helping organizations build their brands, reputations and relationships. She is recognized as a trusted counselor, collaborative colleague and inspiring leader dedicated to excellence in marketing and communications.  

Dawn founded The Fairmount Group in 2006 following a successful 20-year career in the corporate sector. This award winning marketing and communications firm provides strategic counsel, skills-based training and tactical services to a diverse roster of clients – from small local businesses to national nonprofits to global corporations, across an array of industry sectors.


Dawn has extensive experience in strategic planning; branding; marketing communications; financial communications; media relations; digital and social media; issues and crisis management; mergers and acquisition management; community relations; employee engagement; and corporate social responsibility.


Within the business functions of marketing and communications, Dawn has a stellar record of creating and directing strategically driven, results oriented, high performance teams. In particular, she is recognized for her innovative approaches to organizational development, project management and business process improvement (BPI) for corporate marketing and communications departments.  


Dawn also offers deep expertise in crisis communications. She has helped employers and clients deal with manufacturing accidents, workplace violence, employee layoffs, union conflicts, environmental issues, product liability issues, mergers and acquisitions, sudden changes in leadership and ownership, and many other high-stakes reputation issues. A seasoned media trainer, she has taught hundreds of business executives how to communicate effectively during times of crisis.  

Before founding The Fairmount Group, Dawn worked for diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation in Cleveland as Director of External & Marketing Communications. In this role, she had global responsibility for branding and corporate identity, marketing communications, financial communications, media relations and crisis communications. She headed the External & Marketing Communications staff, served as a member of the global Marketing Council and chaired the global Marketing Communications Council.

Prior to Eaton, Dawn spent six years in Copenhagen, Denmark where she was Vice President of Corporate Communications for the Borealis A/S, a $3 billion producer of polyolefin plastics with operations in Europe, Asia and North America. She created the Communications function upon the founding of the company and led its corporate-wide staff of more than 30 employees in seven countries. Reporting to the CEO, she served as the chief communications advisor to the Executive Board and provided leadership for internal, external and marketing communications around the globe.


Previously, Dawn spent four years in Helsinki, Finland where she directed external communications for the Chemicals division of Neste Oy, an international oil and petrochemicals company. In this role, she led all aspects of the division’s public relations efforts including media relations, brand management and marketing communications.


The earlier years of her career include public relations positions with Riggs National Bank in Washington, D.C., and Highland Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.


Dawn earned a Master of Science in Communications Management from the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Louisiana State University.


Dawn is active in a number of community and professional organizations. She is a past board member of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the former co-chair of its Diversity Committee. In 2003, she received the PRSA President’s Award in recognition of her leadership in the area of diversity and inclusion. In 2007, she was honored with the chapter’s Davis Young Award for
Exceptional Mentors. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Bridge Builders and served on its board from 2002 to 2004. She is the immediate past Co-Chair of the Cleveland Community Leadership Council of Planned Parenthood Northeast Ohio. She is currently a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of Ladies Who Launch Cleveland/Akron; Council of Small Enterprises (COSE), the Cleveland Press Club and PRSA.

In her spare time, Dawn enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, traveling, quilting, gardening and volunteering for local nonprofit organizations.
 


  Julie D'Aloiso
  Social Media Consultant


Julie D'Aloiso is a bona fide social media expert.  For clients of The Fairmount Group, Julie helps develop and implement social media strategies for effectively using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs and other popular online tools.  She also develops websites and teaches clients how to maintain them and track online marketing efforts with analytics.

Julie is president of SpiderCat Marketing, Inc., a social media marketing firm based in Macedonia, Ohio.  She offers website development, maintenance and custom programming as well as search engine optimization, pay-per-click and e-commerce capability services in addition to managing social media accounts for businesses. Julie partners with other web professionals -- programmers, designers, developers and hosting companies -- to meet clients' needs and she enjoys collaborating with other marketing and communications professionals.  In 2010, SpiderCat Marketing received the Small Business of the Year award from the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to founding SpiderCat Marketing, Julie managed website projects for software firm Tornado Technologies.  Previously, she spent seven years as owner of the website design firm D-Webjazz Web Design. 

Julie enjoys teaching others about how to market themselves online.  She is a Certified Professional with In Bound Marketing University.  She has presented dozens of social media seminars to businesses, associations and colleges and has appeared as a presenter and panelist at conferences, trade shows and on radio.  She also authored a chapter in the book 49 Marketing Secrets That Work titled "You have a beautiful website, does anyone know that it exists?"

She is a board member and former president of the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce. She also belongs to the Akron Chamber of Commerce, Council of Small Enterprises (COSE) of Cleveland and several networking groups, including Working Women Connection, International Referrals Network and the Nordonia Referral Networking Group.

Julie earned a B.S. in Computer Technology from Lake Erie College.

Julie enjoys technology as a hobby as well as for business.  She is also an avid singer. Julie and her daughter are both choir members and cantors at the Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Macedonia.


  Tom Leland
  Copy Writer and Advertising Consultant

Tom Leland is a writer and creative director with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and advertising.  His expertise is developing strategic messaging for branding platforms and media campaigns across the business spectrum.

During his career with public relations and advertising firms in Los Angeles, New York, Stamford, Connecticut and Cleveland, including agency giants Ogilvy & Mather, D'Arcy & Partners and J. Walter Thompson, Tom wrote thousands of radio, TV and print ads for clients.  He was instrumental in the branding of Slim Jims, Bed Bath & Beyond, VTech learning toys and others. 

Website content and design experience includes serving as writer/creative director on more than 50 websites for companies such as Lands' End, Cedar Point, Biore Skincare, Reynolds Wrap, Mars Candy, Olympic Paint, Comerica Bank, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, LasikPlus, and Isuzu.

Tom has many success stories to show for his work on behalf of clients including American Express, Ocean Spray, General Foods, Starbucks, Citibank, Mattel, New York University, British Tourism Board, Isuzu, Cedar Point, Nestle, Cleveland Clinic, Glaxo Smith Kline, and hundreds more.  His work has garnered many advertising and marketing awards, including the coveted One Show.  

In addition to his work in advertising and marketing, Tom has also written for various blogs and publications, including Cleveland Business Connects and Northern Ohio Live
magazines.

Tom earned a B.S. in Geography from San Diego State University. 

He has been engaged as a volunteer for various organizations, including extensive work for Visiting Neighbors, through which individuals spend time with and run errands for solitary elders in New York City.

Tom lives in Beachwood, Ohio with his wife and two daughters.


  Tiffany Massing
  Project Coordinator

Tiffany Massing joined The Fairmount Group Team in 2011 in the role of Project Coordinator. With a background in art and design and experience as a successful small business owner, Tiffany brings unique skills and talent to the team.   She is engaged in many facets of the business and supports a variety of business and nonprofit clients -- from proofreading to website development to conducting research.

Tiffany relocated to Cleveland in 2008 after spending more than a decade in London, England.  Following several years in the world of fine arts in London, Tiffany devoted five years to learning how to design, craft and market high-end custom furniture.  She is a co-founder of London-based New Leaf Furniture Makers, a successful custom-furniture company which she owned with two other women furniture designers.   The company received numerous awards and accolades, and was popular with British newspapers and home magazines.  

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Tiffany earned a B.A. (Cum Laude) from Wake Forest University, in French and Fine Art.  She earned an M.F.A. in Printmaking from the Slade School of Fine Art in London. 

Since moving to Cleveland, Tiffany has integrated herself into the community.  Her newly-renovated home and garden were on the Heights Heritage Home Tour in 2010, a benefit for the Heights Community Congress.  She is engaged as a volunteer and event organizer with Cleveland's efforts to promote the District of Design, a downtown area designated as a design and furniture hub.  Tiffany also runs a personal design service, helping clients to source furniture, art and home accessories. 


  Ann Ray
  Editorial Consultant

A member of The Fairmount Group team since 2006, Ann offers a vast array of expertise in communications, marketing and research.  She serves as a copywriter, editor, researcher and strategic planning consultant on business and nonprofit engagements.  Ann's expertise is developing and refining written communications for marketing and public relations campaigns, including website content, articles for periodicals, presentations, brochures and annual reports.  

Ann spent 15 years in Washington, D.C. in the early years of her career. She was the Administrator of Hamilton & Staff, a renowned public opinion research and strategy consulting firm for national and international political candidates, advocacy organizations and trade associations.  While at H&S, she was also appointed as the Administrator of The American Association of Political Consultants for a two-year term.

Prior to Hamilton & Staff, she was the Director of Research for a national career marketing company and was an award winning Account Executive with a private recruiting firm.

A lifelong dog advocate and enthusiast, Ann owned and operated a successful dog training business in both Atlanta, Georgia and Memphis, Tennessee.  In both cities, she taught hundreds of training classes and seminars. In Memphis, she also wrote a pet training column for a monthly magazine and founded a community animal advocacy organization. 

A native of Louisiana, Ann earned a B.A. from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a concentration in print journalism and a minor in psychology.

She has volunteered her time and talents to a number of community and advocacy groups over the years, including humane and pet rescue organizations, women's health clinics, food banks, neighborhood associations and an environmental education committee. 

Ann lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband and their two rescued dogs.


  Peter Roskowetz
  Special Event and Project Coordinator

Peter Roskowetz is a seasoned project manager, administrator and special events coordinator who brings extensive international experience to The Fairmount Group.  He supports client engagements and office projects requiring organizational expertise and attention to detail.   Peter joined The Fairmount Group in 2009 when he relocated to Cleveland.

Previously, Peter spent three years in Hanoi, Vietnam where he served as Event/Visit Coordinator for the U.S. Embassy.  In that role, he managed and coordinated all logistical support for more than 500 annual official visitors to Hanoi.  This included coordinating events involving high-level U.S. government officials, including Cabinet members and members of Congress.  He received numerous commendations for his service, including a Certificate of Appreciation from the White House Communications Agency.

Peter also spent six years in the role of Facilities Support Specialist for Concentra Preferred Systems in Rockville, Maryland. He managed the facilities infrastructure and ensured the smooth and efficient operation of the Rockville office of the nation's largest outsourced provider of specialized cost containment services for the healthcare industry.

Earlier in his career, Peter held office management and administrative positions for a variety of organizations around the world, including:  Psychological Consulting Services in Gross-Gerau, Germany; the Australian Trade Commission/Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany; Substance Abuse Counseling Services in Seoul, Korea; and the Department of Engineering and Housing for the U.S. Army in Munich, Karlsruhe and Heidelberg, Germany.

Peter is fluent in English and German.  He resides in Cleveland Heights.


  Jennifer Speer
  Graphic Designer

Jennifer Speer joined The Fairmount Group as a graphic design consultant in 2008.   A marketing and design professional with over 18 years of experience, Jennifer creates outstanding graphics for client branding and identity projects, marketing and advertising campaigns, websites and publications.

While Jennifer specializes in whole project management, she can enter a process at any stage to provide creative direction and design expertise.  Jennifer is known for her outstanding graphic design talents, as well as for her passion for creativity and attention to detail.

Jennifer has owned and operated a successful graphic design business since 1994. Her firm, Jennifer Speer Design Marketing, provides marketing designs, print buying and production, logo creation, advertising concepts, and identity campaigns as well as online marketing solutions.  She also offers complete photo shoot direction, including production and retouching.

She began her career in public relations for a regional healthcare provider and later served as marketing director and designer for a Northeast Ohio advertising firm. Jennifer is also the published author of the children's book "I Didn't Know That."

Jennifer holds a B.A. from Mount Union College with a major in communications and a minor in English.

During her career, Jennifer has provided volunteer services for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, YWCA of Greater Cleveland, and the Brecksville Broadview Heights School District.

Jennifer is a native Clevelander.  She now lives in Brecksville, Ohio with her husband and four kids.


  Jeri Waters
  Public Relations & Marketing Communications Consultant

Jeri Waters brings versatility and industry experience spanning more than 20 years to The Fairmount Group.  Her areas of expertise include strategic communications, brand development, social marketing, capital campaigns, crisis planning and reputation management. A writer by trade, Jeri has the finesse it takes to develop concise and attention grabbing messages to reach clients' stakeholders.

Jeri joined The Fairmount Group team in 2009.  She is also President and CEO of Signature Communications LLC, a public relations and marketing communications agency that serves corporations, small businesses, nonprofits and community-based organizations.

Previously, Jeri held the position of Communications Manager for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, where she managed all aspects of the organization's communications activities, including media relations.  In this leadership role, she also developed an award-winning community and government relations program, website and online educational curriculum.

Prior to joining the Port Authority, Jeri held several positions in the Corporate Communications department of American Electric Power, a Fortune 500 company and the world's largest electric utility, based in Columbus, Ohio.  She managed aspects of the company's community relations program and served as community liaison, developed and authored the AEP's first community report, and created promotional materials to generate employee participation in its major fundraising campaign.  She also researched and wrote policy papers, news releases, speeches, and updated and implemented the company's crisis communications plan.

Jeri began her career as a journalist with The Associated Press, where she was a reporter and also directed news bureau operations. Her work was published in all major newspapers in the state, as well as major publications around the world. 

A native of Cleveland, Jeri earned a B.A. in Communications from John Carroll University. She is continuing her education at Cleveland State University, where she is pursuing a master's degree in Business Administration.

Jeri's community involvement includes serving on the board of Karamu House, the country's oldest multicultural theater, and on the marketing committees of the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland and Young Audiences.  She is a former Treasurer of the International Association of Business Communicators.


  Charles Webster
  Crisis Communications Consultant

Chuck Webster is widely considered one of the best crisis planning and crisis spokesperson trainers in the country.  He joined The Fairmount Group in 2009 as a senior crisis planning and communications advisor.  He is also President of Charles L. Webster & Associates, Inc., a crisis management consultancy that assists business and government clients in planning for and responding to major crisis events.

Chuck's expertise is external issue management, crisis media training, conflict resolution, policy clarification, and development of crisis training exercises.   He has personally trained more than 12,000 men and women in crisis communications skills and he has conducted seminars, exercises, workshops, and media training all over North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

He has been responsible for the communications response to many emergency and crisis incidents including fires, explosions, homicides, oil spills, and community impact events.  Chuck was cited by the Los Angeles Times on the 20th Anniversary of Earth Day as a representative of "what business communicators could be if they cared."

Through his firm, Chuck has provided services to more than seventy business and government clients around the globe.  He has also taught portions of an advanced management program at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School and has presented at a number of industry symposiums. He twice chaired the American Petroleum Institute's Crisis Management conference.

Prior to forming his own firm in 1993, Chuck served as Director of Emergency Preparedness for BP America.  During crisis events covering two decades, Chuck served as external affairs chief, assessing and managing public response and external exposure, including media relations, government relations, community relations, and overall public perception.

Earlier in his career, Chuck was a reporter, writer, and editor for ABC News, NBC News, and The Associated Press. He earned a B.S. degree in Telecommunications from the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University.

As a community leader in Westlake, Ohio, Chuck chaired the communications team during a successful school levy campaign that followed three levy defeats.  He recently served as President of the Westlake Town Criers, an organization that raises and distributes about $15,000 per year in scholarships and aid to local nonprofits and those in need. Past volunteer engagement includes serving as President of the Board of Directors of the International Bird Rescue Research Center in Berkeley, California.  Chuck is married and has three grown daughters.
